Vuyo plays Kumkani 'Gadaffi' Phakade on Generations but will possibly no longer return for season 7, as filming is already underway. He told Daily Sun, "It is what it is" when asked to confirm the news.

He was given an ultimatum by producers who asked him to choose between the soapie and Queen Sono. He chose Queen Sono, but it was reported that the Netflix series has been canned. Dabula played Shandu Johnson Magwaza on the series.

When contacted by Daily Sun to confirm the recent rumours he replied by saying, "I am not leaving the show."  An unnamed source however has told that producers of the show could not care less about Vuyo's sudden change of mind, saying they battled to come up with 'an exit story' in a very short space of time.

The source told the publication that producers are adamant on kicking him off the show as planned and as per his previous request.

In a statement sent to ZAlebs, a Netflix spokesperson confirmed that they have decided to not continue with the second season.

We’ve made the difficult decision not to move forward with season 2 of Queen Sono. We are incredibly proud of the Diprente team for sharing their audacious vision and bringing it to life with Netlflix."

The director of the series said, “We wrote a beautiful story that spanned the continent but unfortunately could not be executed in these current trying times,” said  Kagiso Lediga, Director (Diprente).
